Český Krumlov Castle is one of the most important monuments of the Central European region due to its high-level architecture, cultural tradition and size. The building development from the 14th to the 19th century is preserved in the original layout, material composition, interior installation and architectural detail. The location has been rated so highly by domestic and foreign professionals that it has gained the highest conservation protection status. In 1963 the town was declared an urban conservation zone. In 1989 the castle complex was declared a National heritage site, and in 1992 the entire historical complex was inscribed in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
