The upper water mill complex is located in the village of Hoslovice, 17 km south-west of Strakonice by the Hoslovický stream. It consists of three buildings: a mill with a residential area, cowsheds with a shed and a barn. This also includes a pond with a raceway, orchard and meadows.
The mill equipment includes a water wheel with a wooden raceway. As unique proof of the medieval method of grinding, the so-called ‘Czech assembly’, including the original control of the hopper and all necessary tools and equipment have also remained preserved. The mill was powered by water from a small pond upstream from the mill building. The mill raceway is about 150 meters long and its condition corresponds to the description according to the water ledger from 1884.
It is a unique locally preserved mill in Bohemia, a rare example of farming and grinding technology, which has been replaced in most mills with modern technology since the mid-19th century.
